Technical aspects of this website How Extensible is Digitalbrain?
- At the application implementation level digitalbrain is composed of a number of shared libraries (each providing some service e.g. calendaring) these all plug into the digitalbrain core. Peripheral to core comms is through a C++ API that is COM-like. Third party developers have successfully plugged extra functionality (e.g. Avatars!) into digitalbrain using this.Furthermore, digitalbrain are working to incorporate Plumtree's Content Server Protocol which means that the user interfaces of external components can be proxiedinto the digitalbrain site (over the net) without the need for any traditional code integration!
What systems does Digitalbrain use?
- Debian Linux operating system. Apache Web servers. All the development software used is under open licenses, thus reducing the cost of an additional annual license fee.
- Digitalbrain support the site remotely with its core site at London Tele-house.
